Treatment Information

Treatment Approach: Dr. Maddeaux utilizes a variety of cognitive behavioural based techniques, including Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Metacognitive therapy, and Schema Therapy. She includes aspects of Mindfulness, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Positive Psychology in her treatment approaches. Dr. Maddeaux also blends elements of Emotion Focused Therapy and other attachment based interventions into her treatment techniques when addressing relationship difficulties.

Individual Therapy: Individual therapy is provided for the treatment of anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, phobias, social anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia), depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, perfectionism, and personality related issues. Individual therapy is also provided for addressing academic and workplace stressors and burnout, relationship and career dissatisfaction, and interpersonal difficulties.

Couple Therapy: Couple therapy focuses on communication difficulties, attachment related issues, resolving personality incompatibilities, addressing infidelity, and coping with chronic disagreements and crises in parenting. Couple therapy may be suggested when a client’s mental or physical health issues are contributing to a breakdown in their relationships, or when existing relationship difficulties are impeding their recovery in therapy.

Family and Parenting Therapy: Family and parenting therapy assists parents in navigating the best approaches to meet the needs of their children and adolescents, including techniques and communication strategies to use in dealing with children with complex psychological needs. Family therapy may be suggested when difficult family dynamics impede the recovery of a family member from mental health challenges, including poor communication, power struggles and family conflict.

Treatment Rates: All psychological services provided are covered by most extended health care plans and are tax deductible medical expenses. Fees fall within current recommendations of the Ontario Psychological Association. Payment is required at the time of service. Visa, Mastercard and e-transfers are accepted forms of payment.
